The people behind Industry Practice
Through Industry Practice, students, academics and mentors collaborate to manage companies, facilitate learning and deliver real-world work.
Students run the companies
Section titled “Students run the companies”Students enrolled in degrees offered by the Faculty of Information Technology take part in Industry Practice from their second year onwards.
They take on roles across company teams and departments, while selected students form the leadership team. Each cohort builds on the company’s existing vision and work before handing its knowledge and responsibilities to the students who follow.
Students take on responsibilities aligned with their interests, their developing capabilities and the needs of the company. Their learning is shaped by the role they hold and the work they contribute to.
Academic staff shape the learning
Section titled “Academic staff shape the learning”Academic staff ensure that company work supports the learning outcomes and academic standards of each degree.
They design the curriculum around the company experience, serve on company boards, and work with student leaders and industry representatives to review company direction and deliverables.
