Road safety for young people

About our project

Food-delivery riders spend long hours on Melbourne roads, often on routes they have never ridden and under time pressure. RideAware is an iOS app that helps them build road sense in three stages. Short scenarios teach how to read situations like tram-track crossings, ending bike lanes, and the door zone beside parked cars. Before a ride, the app reads the planned route and briefs the rider on the few road changes that most deserve attention. During the ride, quiet audio reminders arrive just before each one. Everything is built from open government data, so riders learn what the road holds rather than being told where is dangerous.
