Place Ahead

Simulate Australia 2050
About our project
Newly arrived migrants and young families need walkable access to childcare, schools and healthcare, essentials at the heart of the 20-minute city concept. Yet fewer than 6% of Melburnians live in a 20-minute neighbourhood, and families have no easy way to check whether a home meets the Victorian Government’s standard. PlaceAhead is an address-level tool that scores any Melbourne property against it, showing which essential services sit within an 800-metre walk. By pairing walkability with affordability, PlaceAhead helps families compare homes with confidence and choose places that support healthier, more connected lives, reducing the isolation many newcomers face.
