About our project

Australian food labels do not disclose how processed a product is, and the Health Star Rating is voluntary and scores nutrients rather than processing. BiteSwap is a free, no-login Progressive Web App for parents of children aged 6 to 10 in Victoria. Scan or search a lunchbox snack and it shows which processing group the food falls into, the exact ingredients behind that, sugar as teaspoons, and one alternative from the same category compared on three label figures. It never gives a score. Whole-food alternatives with preparation methods follow.
