AccessPark
TE05
Inclusive Design and accessibility
About our project
The project responds to a major accessibility challenge for authorised users of accessible parking in the Melbourne CBD. Although more than 500 accessible bays exist, users cannot reliably know if a suitable space will be available when they arrive, leading to long searches, increased physical strain, and cancelled outings. Nationally, most Australians with physical disability consider accessible parking essential, and many have abandoned trips due to unavailable spaces. The project aims to provide real time visibility of accessible bay availability and alternatives, improving independence, reducing uncertainty, and supporting equitable access to the city for people with disability.
