About our project
DrainLens is a website that helps residents in Melbourne’s CBD and surrounding inner-city suburbs understand local rainwater movement and flood risk by exploring drain records, ground elevation, flow directions, low-lying areas and historical flood data, and by comparing clear and blocked drain scenarios under the same rainfall conditions. It is an educational planning tool, not a live flood warning or forecasting service.
