About our project
PlantAssure is a web application that helps residential gardeners in the City of Monash make informed, environmentally responsible planting choices. Before buying or planting, users can search or browse a plant, or identify one from a photo, to check its Victorian establishment status, local occurrence, and environmental weed-risk rating, drawn from trusted sources like VicFlora, the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas, and the 2022 Advisory List of Environmental Weeds. Where a plant poses a risk, PlantAssure suggests lower-risk alternatives and lets users compare options. By guiding better choices at the point of decision, it helps protect local biodiversity from invasive weeds.
