About our project
The First Step is a mobile-friendly website for young adults aged 18–24 who are new to Melbourne and unsure where to go in their free time. A short, visual questionnaire asks about their current mood, preferred atmosphere and how far they want to explore, without requiring them to choose an activity first. The website then uses Victorian open data to suggest suitable places, including parks, galleries, music venues, sports facilities and picnic areas. Results include location, distance and source information, helping newcomers take a simple first step towards exploring Melbourne.
