About our project

TouchGrass Melbourne is a website that helps stressed Melbourne CBD residents find genuine tree-dense green space near their workday, to relieve the psychological distress of demanding jobs. Unlike Google Maps, which treats all green space the same, TouchGrass distinguishes real tree canopy, proven to cool the air, reduce noise, and ease psychological distress, from grass or busy playgrounds with little of that benefit. Users can set preferences like tree canopy, shade, noise, and allergy sensitivity, and receive a personalised route to nearby canopy using real City of Melbourne tree data, helping residents get genuine relief in the small pockets of time they have.
